The JAG Implant Training Academy offers a comprehensive, accredited pathway for dental professionals who wish to gain confidence and competence in placing and restoring dental implants. Led by Dr. Andrew Little and Dr. Grainne McCloskey—two highly experienced clinicians who practise exclusively in implant dentistry—our academy blends evidence-based learning with hands-on surgical training, all in a supportive and professional environment.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide dentists with little or no implant experience with high-quality education and practical training in the placement and restoration of dental implants.

We aim to:

Course Director

Andrew qualified in 2008 from Queen’s University Belfast with Honours and gained his MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2010. With over 15 years of experience in implant dentistry, he now focuses exclusively on implants and minor oral surgery. He owns Precision Implant Clinic in Banbridge and serves on the board of the Association of Dental Implants (ADI). Andrew also works as an expert witness in implant dentistry with the British Medical Experts network. Trained by leading clinicians including Dr Ashok Sethi, Dr Naresh Sharma, and Dr Tomas Kaus, Andrew is proficient in immediate placement, full-arch (All-on-X), sinus lifts, and advanced bone grafting. He has mentored numerous clinicians in sedation techniques and continually attends national and international implantology events. Outside of dentistry, Andrew enjoys rugby, sport, and an active outdoor lifestyle.

Course Director

Grainne holds an MSc in Clinical Implants from UCLAN and an MSc in Oral Surgery from the University of Ulster, along with membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) and multiple postgraduate diplomas from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She owns and operates two dental practices in Northern Ireland, employing over 25 staff. With over 20 years’ experience in placing and restoring implants, she is skilled in a wide range of implant systems including Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Ankylos, Inserta, Southern Implants, and Zimmer Biomet. Her expertise also covers CBCT scanning, digital dentistry (CEREC), guided surgery, and advanced bone regeneration techniques. Grainne is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based implant training and mentoring the next generation of implant clinicians.

Clinical Director

Stephen qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 2008. After completing his Vocational Training, he spent two years as a Senior House Officer and Specialty Doctor in Oral Surgery. During this time, he obtained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, achieving the highest mark in the examination and earning the prestigious John Smith Medal. Stephen then gained experience in private practice in Australia and Singapore before working as a lecturer in the Oral Surgery department at Trinity College Dublin. During this period, he published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. He went on to complete a two-year diploma program in implant dentistry, earning his Diploma in Implant Dentistry (DipImpDent) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Since 2020, Stephen has focused exclusively on dental implants, offering everything from straightforward single-tooth replacements to complex full-mouth reconstructions using extra-maxillary implants. In 2024, he was admitted to the College of General Dentistry’s Implant Mentor register, a rigorous, peer-reviewed process that reflects his expertise, experience, and commitment to professional development. He was also awarded Associate Fellowship of the College. Stephen lives locally with his wife and daughter. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys traveling, staying active, and playing the guitar.

Specialist in Periodontics & Implant Dentist

Amit is the principal specialist and director at Birmingham Dental Specialists in Birmingham. His special interests are dental implants, regenerative and aesthetic Periodontics. Amit graduated from the University of Liverpool and completed a 4 year specialist training programme in Periodontics at Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ Dental Institute. Amit was an Associate Specialist in Periodontics at the Birmingham Dental School for over 10 years and is still an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry . He has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including lecturing to dental practitioners both in the UK and internationally. Amit is the immediate past president of the Association of Dental Implantology and now on the European Association of Osseointegration committee.

Restorative and Implant Dentistry

Dr Benson received his undergraduate dental degree from Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary in 2006. He enjoyed working in private practice as a general dentist in Budapest and Edinburgh for several years prior to receiving his post graduate training and master’s degree of oral medicine in dental implantology and dentoalveolar surgery at the International Medical College, University of Muenster, Germany, in 2011 and 2014. From 2012 Dr Benson worked for several dental practices based in Budapest, London and in Ireland providing visiting dental implant services. Dr Benson is licenced to practice dentistry in Hungary, UK, Ireland and Australia. His dental implant procedure records are showing an overall success rate of 98.5%. PERSONAL Apart from work his young family keeping him busy to achieve a great work-life balance. Dr Benson likes espresso with no sugar. He likes outdoor activities like cycling and sea kayaking. His favourite animals are polar bears and dogs.

In addition, I trained in oral maxillofacial surgery as the 2nd on call senior surgeon including implant surgery in severe resorption cases, trauma reconstructions, cancer reconstructive cases, cleft lip and palate cases and hypodontia cases using iliac crest grafts to regenerate bone volume. For the past 12 years I have been a full-time dental implantologist with my main focus being on surgery and using digital guidance to reduce complications. My implant areas of expertise are: • Full mouth rehabilitation • Immediate implant placement and restoration • Complexed grafting • Digital planning/guided surgery to reduce risk and complications. I place approximately 600-700 implants per year, my experience being with the following implant systems: Nobel, Straumann, Southern, Osstem, Megagen, Neodent and Astra. Furthermore, I perform/undertake routinely many implant-related bone reconstructive grafting cases such as block grafts and sinus lifts in addition to the implant surgeries that I perform.

Dr. Zubair Sacranie is a highly respected dentist with a passion for implantology and education. With over two decades of clinical experience, he has dedicated the last six years serving on the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) Board and currently holds the position of Honorary Treasurer. Zubair is deeply committed to continuous professional development and has played a pivotal role in mentoring newly qualified dentists, particularly in the field of implantology. His vision for the future of dentistry is reflected in his leadership of the ADI Next Gen group, where he fosters growth and innovation among young dental professionals. Under his guidance, the group has flourished, providing crucial support to emerging talents. Zubair has also been instrumental in expanding ADI’s membership, working tirelessly to make the organization more inclusive and dynamic. His dedication ensures that both seasoned professionals and newcomers benefit from the latest advancements in dental implantology.

Greg qualified as a dentist from Queens University Belfast in 1984.  Working alongside Barry Mark (tutuor at Queens University dental School, a practice owner, mentor and lifelong friend) Greg was encouraged to carry out as much surgery as possible.  Since starting his practice on the Lisburn Road, Belfast, over 20 years ago,   Dentistry had changed dramatically in these years with the explosion of Cosmetic dentistry and most noticeably Implant Dentistry all which Greg has great experience in.   Greg has travelled the world learning all aspects of dentistry finally obtaining a master’s degree in Implantology from Universidad Ray Juan Carlos in Marid 2019.Greg offers all treatment modalities: Routine, Cosmetic, Periodontal, Orthodontic and Oral Surgery in house.  Experienced in digital dentistry.   Gregs have always been interested in why people grind and fracture their teeth, get periodontal disease and why teeth fracture and this led Greg to treating and accessing the whole masticatory system / oro – pharyngeal airway, and ultimately treatment of airway obstruction / sleep apnoea.   This is a niche field.  Postgraduate courses attended  The Davison Academy, Florida: which tackles all aspects of TMJ Dysfunction, occlusal analysis, and functional aesthetics.  The Sleep and TMJ Therapy Centre, California: organised by Dr Stevie Acmos. His courses are very expansive, an encyclopaedia of knowledge, teaching “motor nerve reflex testing” to help triage and treat “TMJ Syndrome Dysfunction’’.  Clinical formation for Orthopaedics and Orthodontics, Texas: Founder DR Skip Truitt. DR Truitt’s mission taught the importance of orthopaedic development before orthodontic treatment to create beautiful smiles in balanced faces with open airways and healthy TMJ’S.  BTi Technology: founder Dr Eduardo Anitua.  Dr Anitua is one of the foremost clinicians in the world of implant dentistry and dental sleep Medicine.  He patented the use of centrifuging patents own blood, extracting homogenous platelets to form ‘’Platelet Rich Growth Factors,” which I use in every surgical implant placement providing healing and tissue regeneration. Who is the JAG Implant Training Academy course designed for? +

The course is aimed at qualified dentists with little or no prior implant experience who wish to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to place and restore dental implants safely.

What qualification will I receive upon completion? +

Graduates receive a Certificate in Implant Dentistry accredited by EduQual at SCQF Level 11 (QCF Level 7), recognised by the GDC and transferable to some European equivalents.

How long is the course? +

It runs over 10 weekend modules, totalling 72 hours of verifiable CPD, plus approximately 600 hours of guided self-study, reading, and casework.

Can I carry out complex procedures on the course or after? +

Our course is designed to take the inexperience dental practitioner to the level of simple implant placements, including appropriate planning, placement, and restoration. This will include simple bone grafting. We will however include topics for theoretical knowledge such as sinus lifts and inevitably some cases will require some element of bone augmentation or sinus lifting. However, we will recommend further training for complex procedures, and if you are looking for a course specifically centred around more complex procedures, then please have a look at other Post Graduate courses centred around complex cases, or specific topics or speak to our tutor who will gradually guide you.
