Failure to adhere to these standards may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal from the training programme.

4. Attendance

Regular attendance is essential to progression and certification. Modules are designed as a coherent sequence, and absence disrupts both individual and group learning. Delegates are expected to attend all scheduled sessions, arriving promptly and prepared. Where absence is unavoidable due to illness or exceptional circumstances, it should be communicated to the course tutors at the earliest opportunity.

4.1. Attendance Expectations

  • Attendance at all modules of the implant training course is strongly encouraged and expected.
  • Trainees are expected to arrive promptly at the designated venue for registration, which opens at 8:30 am.
  • Modules will commence promptly at 9:00 am. Late arrivals may disrupt the flow of the session and negatively affect the learning experience for all participants.

4.2. Attendance Requirements

  • Trainees are required to attend all scheduled modules of the training course to meet the learning objectives and requirements for certification.
  • Attendance will be formally recorded at each module, and participation in all sessions is essential for comprehensive learning and skills development.
  • Sign-in sheets will be circulated, and it is the responsibility of each trainee to ensure they sign for their own attendance.
  • Evaluation sheets will also be required to be completed at each module.
  • Trainees who miss modules may be asked to make up the missed content or demonstrate proficiency in the missed topics in order to qualify for certification.

4.3. Absence Reporting and Excused Absences

  • Trainees must notify the course tutors or designated contact in advance if they are unable to attend a module due to illness or exceptional circumstances.
  • Excused absences may include illness, medical emergencies, bereavement, or other unforeseen circumstances deemed valid by the course administration.
  • Trainees will be expected to provide appropriate documentation, such as a written explanation, to support any absence due to illness or exceptional circumstances.

4.4. Make-Up Sessions and Remediation

  • Trainees who miss modules due to excused absences may be offered the opportunity to make up the missed content through supplementary materials, additional sessions, or alternative learning arrangements.
  • It is the responsibility of the trainee to fully engage with any make-up sessions or remedial activities in order to meet the learning objectives of the course.
  • Course tutors reserve the right to decide whether it is feasible to accommodate make-up sessions, depending on course scheduling and available resources.

4.5. Certificate Requirements

  • Meeting the attendance requirements is essential for eligibility to receive certification upon completion of the training course.
  • Trainees must demonstrate that they have met all attendance criteria and achieved the necessary competence in skills and knowledge to qualify for certification.
  • Failure to meet the attendance requirements may affect eligibility for certification, and additional assessments may be required to demonstrate competence.

This attendance policy is intended to safeguard the integrity and effectiveness of the implant training course while allowing flexibility for trainees who encounter unforeseen circumstances. Adhering to these requirements ensures the best possible learning experience and successful completion of the programme.

5. Course Delivery & Content

Courses are delivered through:

  • Lectures, tutor demonstrations, online materials, webinars.
  • Practical and simulated surgical sessions.
  • Mentored live-patient implant placement.

We reserve the right to update course schedules, content, and faculty in order to maintain quality and compliance with GDC training standards.

6. Mentoring & Patient Cases

Delegates will be supported through a programme of mentored clinical placements. A minimum number of supervised cases must be completed to be eligible for certification, with opportunities for further mentoring beyond this minimum. In most instances, patients will be treated within our clinics under discounted arrangements, ensuring affordability for patients and quality of training for delegates. Mentorship may also take place within a delegate’s own practice by prior arrangement, subject to additional requirements.

  • We assert ownership or licensing rights over all intellectual property presented during our in-person course. This encompasses any material used, including but not limited to text, images, videos, and graphics, which are protected. All rights are reserved.
  • Participants are permitted to take notes or make personal copies of materials provided during the course for personal reference only.
  • Modification of course materials or unauthorized use of any part of the materials, including illustrations, photographs, videos, audio sequences, or graphics, separately from accompanying text, is strictly prohibited.
  • Any commercial use of materials from our course requires prior authorisation or licensing from us or our licensors.Without such authorisation, commercial usage is not permitted.
  • Violation of these terms, including unauthorised reproduction or distribution of course materials, will result in immediate cessation of participation in the course, and legal action may be pursued if necessary

8. Health & Safety

Throughout the training course, all delegates are expected to uphold the highest standards of health and safety, as they would in their day-to-day practice of dentistry.

8.1. Sharps Awareness

  • All participants must adhere to sharps safety protocols.
  • Instruments such as needles, scalpels, and other sharp devices must be handled with extreme care to prevent accidental injuries.
  • Proper disposal of sharps in designated containers is mandatory to minimise the risk of needlestick injuries and the transmission of bloodborne pathogens.

8.2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Usage and Disposal

  • The correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of both patients and participants.
  • Delegates must wear appropriate PPE — including gloves, masks, protective eyewear, and gowns — as required for specific procedures and in accordance with infection control standards.
  • PPE should be worn consistently and correctly throughout all patient treatment sessions to reduce exposure to infectious agents and hazardous materials.
  • Used PPE must be disposed of in the designated waste receptacles after treatment to prevent contamination and ensure safe handling of materials.

8.3. Safe Patient Treatment

  • The safety of patients undergoing dental implant procedures is of paramount importance. Delegates must adhere to established clinical protocols and recognised standards of care.
  • Competence in patient assessment, treatment planning, and execution of procedures is essential.
  • Patient comfort, informed consent, and effective communication must be prioritised at all times, alongside appropriate pain management.

8.4. Sterility and Infection Control

  • Infection control practices and the maintenance of a sterile clinical environment are critical to preventing cross-contamination and healthcare-associated infections.
  • All instruments, equipment, and clinical surfaces must be properly cleaned, sterilised, and maintained in line with established guidelines.
  • Delegates are responsible for upholding these standards and ensuring a clean, safe clinical environment at all times.

8.5. Listening to Tutor Instructions

  • Participants must pay close attention to all instructions given by tutors during the course.
  • Compliance with tutor guidance is vital for ensuring the safety of all, as tutors provide direction on correct techniques, safety procedures, and emergency responses.
  • Failure to follow instructions may compromise patient safety, create unnecessary risks, and could lead to disciplinary action.

8.6. Prevention of Deliberate Harm

  • The Academy maintains a zero-tolerance policy for deliberate harm, including reckless behaviour, horseplay, or practical jokes that jeopardise safety.
  • Delegates are expected to conduct themselves professionally and responsibly at all times, placing the safety and wellbeing of themselves, their colleagues, and patients first.
  • Any incident or concern relating to potential harm or hazards must be reported immediately to the course administrator or other designated authority.

By enrolling in the JAG Implant Training Academy programme, all delegates accept responsibility for adhering to this Health and Safety Policy and for contributing to a safe, professional, and secure learning environment for all.

9. Respect and Professional Conduct

Professionalism underpins every aspect of our training. Delegates are expected to treat patients, tutors, staff and peers with dignity and respect, contributing to an inclusive and collaborative learning environment. Bullying, harassment, discrimination or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated. Delegates must comply with infection control standards, appropriate use of PPE, sharps safety, and all instructions from supervising tutors. Conduct falling short of these expectations may lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal from the course.

  • Discriminatory behaviour — including racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other form of prejudice — is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with promptly and decisively.
  • Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal from the programme.

9.3. Professional Conduct

  • Delegates are expected to uphold professional behaviour throughout the course and in all related activities.
  • At all times, trainees must adhere to the professional and ethical standards set out by the General Dental Council (GDC).
